Welcome to ProofMail™

Email is the most tampered-with, counterfeited and manipulated type of digital file on the Internet. It's also the most frequently produced file type during the "discovery" phase for lawsuits. Courts and regulators look to email as evidence - but it's easy for someone to alter the timestamp or contents of your emails, once they're out of your hands.

How do you protect yourself? Use ProofMail™.

It's easy! Just follow these 3 steps:

1.) CREATING PROOFMARKS
Just cc: or bcc: "proofmark@issuer.proofspace.com" on any email you want ProofMarked.

2.) RECEIVING PROOFMARKS
The ProofMail system will immediately reply with a cryptographic, digitally notarized receipt - your ProofMark - as an email with an attachment named "ProoMark.txt". Make sure that "issuer.proofspace.com" is on your "white list" of allowed senders, so that your ProofMarks don't end up in your spam folder. If you want, you can set up your email client to automatically file away these Proofmarks into a specific folder for safekeeping.

3.) VALIDATING PROOFMARKS
Validating a ProofMarked email is easy. Send the Proofmarked email (with the ProofMark.txt attachment) back to validator@issuer.proofspace.com using your "Forward as Attachment" feature. (Check your e-mail client for how to "Forward as Attachment" (e.g. in MS Outlook 2007 it is under the "Actions" menu when viewing messages in the inbox.) You will immediately receive an e-mail message back with your ProofMark Validation Report attached. The attachment will be named: "ProofMarkVerificationReport.xml." (Again, make sure that issuer.proofspace.com is on your "white list" - some e-mail clients may block messages with XML attachments, or route them to a "junk e-mail" folder if you don't).

Hey, how does it work?

ProofMail automatically "shrink-wraps" your outbound email in an cryptographic tamper-evident seal. This "ProofMark" is entirely transparent to your email applications, and won't interfere with them in any way. There's no software to download, nothing to set up.

Later, if someone tries to use a tampered version of one of your emails as "evidence" of something you did or said, it's easy for you to validate your ProofMarked, authenticated copy - proving that your version is the authentic one, and that not even you could have changed the contents or timestamp on the email since it was ProofMarked. Case closed.
