What does a ProofMark prove?

A ProofMark proves that a given piece of data has not changed since a specific point in time. Furthermore, the time associated with the ProofMark is, in itself, provable as authentic and valid.

If a ProofMarked record has been changed in any way, or if its timestamp has been tampered with, the ProofMark will not validate.
